Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we're on a mission to Protect Life. We're explorers, pursuing society's most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you'll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact - #VRforGood

We are working with cutting edge technology and need your help to make it all come together. You will join an interdisciplinary team tackling the biggest challenges in public safety training head-on, including immersive VR based empathy, coping and de-escalation training to help officers engage with the communities they serve, with greater awareness and safety.

As one of the expanding members of the Axon's AR/VR team, the Sr. XR Product Designer will be responsible for driving the user experience of both 2D and 3D experiences; tablet app, mobile app, web-based UI, along with collaborating on the 3D UX of the products. This role will partner with engineering, content, UX and user research to create the best immersive experiences for our VR trainings.

Our AR/VR Team

We believe that happy teams make the best products, so we foster a friendly, open, introspective team culture that encourages everyone to speak their mind, collaborate together, and have fun. (We get paid for playing VR games together.)

We believe we can only succeed if we deeply understand our customers and get to know them. We spend a lot of time with law enforcement officers to learn about their needs, watch their experience and see the real impact of our work. We also work closely with our Axon Community Impact team, along with other community subject experts to create our content and curriculum to reflect the needs of both law enforcement + community.

What You'll Do:

* Assist with creating a XR Axon Styleguide - define UI, XR interactions and patterns
* Presenting your latest designs to the XR team for review and feedback
* Jumping into Unity to make some adjustments to a build
* Getting into headset and reviewing the latest AR/VR build, talking to an engineer about a bug you found
* Collaborating with the other UX Designers, learning 3D tools to help you share your ideas with the team
* Answering a question from a Product Manager about user flow in the tablet app
* Building a prototype in Figma for the new Tablet design
* Assisting the Instructional Designers with assets for our web based trainings
* Learning more about your customers by assisting User Research with an upcoming study and customer visit
* Juggling the priority of multiple projects with your Project Managers
* Partnering with engineers on the user experience of the latest login experience and user flow
* Researching the latest experiences/interactions in AR/VR -trying them out for yourself in headset

What You Bring:

* 7+ years experience as a Product Designer, ideally with some work in the field of XR
* A portfolio showcasing how you frame problems, act on insights, and ultimately design product experiences
* Experience showcasing your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design, multiple iterations, high-fidelity prototypes, and consideration of the impact and scale of work
* Skillfully gauge process and concept fidelity for proposed solutions to meet customer needs. Including: early vision, conceptual work, information architecture, low fidelity wireframes / prototypes, and detailed visual design.
* The ability to break down problems and work within constraints
* Able to articulate design rationale and how we can add value to the product
* Can brainstorm with a group, articulate ideas, and tease out feedback from colleagues
* Experience designing for XR platforms like Hololens, Oculus, HTC Vive, or PlayStation VR.

* Some experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
* Passion for visual design and UI design
