The Vice President of VR Hardware Engineering will shape the intersection of our technology investments and product development, transforming how we play, work, learn, communicate, and experience the world around us.Ideal candidates are those with experience in bringing consumer hardware products to market, developing next-generation platforms that will provide breakthrough VR user experiences. They will manage hardware development across VR with functions spanning electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, system architecture and systems engineering. They must have strong interpersonal skills and communication skills along with a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional interconnectedness and deliverables to enable the realization of complex VR products. Candidates must have keen focus on driving business results, ability to work in ambiguous/less defined environments, and strong willingness to collaborate and optimize overall business objectives.

Required Skills:

Vice President, VR Hardware Engineering Responsibilities:

  1. Lead hardware and technology teams in bringing complex products from concept to mass production through all phases of engineering design, development and validation.

  2. Drive investment strategy and development partnerships with key component vendors/suppliers, collaborating closely with technology, supply chain and manufacturing operations team to enable product differentiation and ensure that product cost, design for manufacturing, quality and go-to-market strategies are met.

  3. Develop outstanding strategic relationships with product peers in engineering, research, business, design, and user research teams to define product requirements and architecture.

  4. Partner with global leaders, HR and recruiting to develop and execute on a strategy to attract, retain and develop top talent and role model leadership best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. 10+ years people management experience including managing leaders and managing remotely across regions.

  3. Track record and demonstrated leadership in developing nascent consumer hardware and software technologies into successful mass-market consumer products.

  4. Experience thinking strategically and executing methodically in an entrepreneurial environment, managing multiple programs simultaneously.

  5. Demonstrated experience with formulating the strategies for multiple product lines, spearheading the effort to execute against them by managing risk and prioritizing resource allocation effectively.

  6. Collaboration and relationship-building experience, working with all levels of management and individual contributors internally and externally.

Public Compensation:

$452,000/year to $475,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
