Description

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located in Aiken SC, at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS). The laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.

The Global Security Directorate is looking for an individual with software development skills to support our Virtual reality program. The successful candidate with utilize their experience to contribute to VR research and development to support projects in existing nuclear material production facilities at the Savannah River Site and new projects planned for SRS.

Bachelor degree in Nuclear or Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or other related engineering/scientific degree.

Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline

Preferred Qualifications :

Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. Candidates with other combinations of education and the appropriate experience will be considered.

Experience developing VR, intelligent gaming (training scenarios development), Unreal, C++, Blender, and Visual Studio .NET is desired. Instrument control and sensor system hardware design is a plus but not required.

PCB design and layout experience is a benefit. Software Development Engineer - work in a dynamic custom equipment development organization to create software for Virtual Reality scenarios, instrument control, sensor and data collection systems.

Experience in C++, C#, graphics/game engine programming (Unity / Unreal).

Seeking a creative, flexible, and self-motivated individual able to work on multidisciplinary teams and individually to develop one of a kind engineering solution.

Additionally, the candidate must be eligible to be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
