The Abbott Global CRM Therapies Procedure Training Specialist will be responsible for developing and delivering procedurally focused training content, hands-on training tools, and exercises for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and Abbott field support teams across the entire CRM portfolio.

Using agility and creativity, the incumbent will be responsible for identifying and uncovering new training needs and gaps from R&D, Marketing, ProfEd, Field Training, and Sales stakeholders; designing procedural training solutions, including tracking and measurement components; developing and maintaining content for either in person, digital, or virtual engagements; participating in the delivery of the training as either a trainer or in a train-the trainer capacity; reviewing the impact of the training after delivery; and driving a cycle of continuous improvement.

Leveraging a passion for the intersection of training and technology, the individual will champion the deployment of procedural training that follows adult learning techniques and instructional design principles.  This role is global facing, and all training content should be deployable around-the-world with minimal modifications to help foster a single curriculum and a consistent training experience for all trainees.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop procedural training strategies (led by Launch Education Manager) with Instructional Designers, R&D, Clinical and Upstream as new procedures are developed, and provide procedural Subject Matter Expert feedback into Upstream and R&D as products are being designed
  • Identify and manage comprehensive suite of procedural training tools including hands-on (i.e. haptic simulators, tabletop models, skills pads), software (i.e. apps) and virtual (extended reality)
  • Manage projects related to procedure training activities with internal and external partners including primary liaising with suppliers for project management and timely delivery; confirming specifications with SME such as Clinical; seeking feedback from SME testers (internal/Clinical and external/HCPs); coordinating calibration with vendors; and managing SOW, Purchase Orders, Payment terms for projects
  • Lead delivery of procedural training programs for field and customers
  • Lead train the trainers’ activities for simulators for field deployment
  • Partner with Fellows leader to integrate Hands-on activities into all Abbott CRM programs
  • Develop training content/programs to enable tracking and analytics; partner with the respective ProfEd and New Hire training leads to deploy tracking within their respective systems, and then review the analytics with the leads
  • Demonstrate consistent educational effectiveness through systematic curriculum and program evaluations and employ a continuous improvement strategy that supports key business objectives and achieves growth targets
  • Lead and ensure positive customer/trainee/trainer experience and global message consistency at programs and become an expert within the designated therapy on trainee needs
  • Partner with other stakeholders to keep training curricula as globally consistent and standardized as possible
  • Maintain training content on a continuous basis to keep content relevant and current to meet the needs of the trainee
  • Drive a culture of best industry practices, technologies, and tools and as appropriate apply those best practices, technologies, and tools
  • Comply with global regulatory relations and requirements, company policy, operating procedures, processes, and task assignment
  • Keep current on developments in the field, specifically on product/therapy knowledge, market, and industry trends
  • Ability to travel approximately 20-30% (domestically and globally).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • BA/BS degree and 7+ years experience in the design and delivery of training and education programs for medical device industry OR Masters degree and 5+ years experience in the design and delivery of training and education programs for medical device industry.

Preferred

  • Deep understanding of CRM device therapy and Abbott’s CRM product portfolio
  • Functional understanding of R&D, Program Management and Marketing functions
  • Affinity for educating others and a demonstrated ability to simplify and articulate complex topics effectively
  • Experience creating multi-media, experiential rich content in blended learning/virtual environment
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts to conduct needs assessment and design training programs to meet needs
  • Excellent computer and software skills in graphics, word processing, authoring programs, etc. to develop presentation/training materials
  • Ability to work in highly matrixed organization and geographically diverse business environments
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong communication, project management skills to accurately represent project status and deliverables to key stakeholders and management
  • Ability to resolve issues and meet project deadlines
