This position will work in Fort Myers as a Vocational Rehabilitation Technician

Job Description:

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is in the business of employment. Our agency has been committed to helping people with disabilities obtain, maintain or regain jobs that lead to meaningful careers. As a VR technician, you will work alongside rehabilitation counselors in support of our customers as they achieve their goals. Technicians are considered para-professionals and are responsible for coordinating and facilitating activities related to casework and special projects as assigned.

Your Specific Responsibilities: Technicians support their offices by:

* Greeting visitors or callers and handling their inquiries
* Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases
* Managing paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, and maintaining documents
* Scheduling and confirm appointments for clients, customers, or supervisors
* Completing authorizations and financial documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations and policies
* Communicating with vendors, staff, community rehabilitation providers, and community partners to facilitate services for customers and/or outreach events

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: As a Technician, you should be able to do the following with minimal direct supervision:

* Problem solve and think creatively- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
* Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
* Conduct case research and evaluate information for compliance- finding relevant information about customer case status and troubleshooting issues as they arise
* Communicate with supervisors, peers, customers and partners- providing information to the people you work with and for, in writing or verbally
* Schedule work and activities- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others
* Work with computers- using PCs to write documents, enter data, maintain calendars, check email, conduct video calls, and processing information
* Perform administrative activities- Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining case files and processing paperwork

Experience: As a technician, you should be able to demonstrate your experience in:

* Customer service- at least 4 years experience working with customers or clients to gather information, resolve issues, and meeting quality standards for services. A proactive attitude in looking for ways to help or improve the experience of internal and external customers.
* Administrative assistance- at least 4 years experience in a professional office environment handling files, coordinating schedules, executing financial transactions, entering data, maintaining documentation, performing general clerical tasks and supporting team members.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in a counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education

Background Screening Requirement:

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment undergo level 2-employment screening in accordance with the requirement of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment of being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, the Affidavit of Good Moral Character, and the Notice of Rights.
