This position works in Tallahassee as an OPS Staff Assistant
Ticket to Work is a Social Security Administration (SSA) program available to Floridians. For those who qualify for social security benefits, Tickets are issued and may be utilized at Vocational Rehabilitation which offers employment and rehabilitation services necessary to secure and maintain employment.
This position is in the Ticket to Work Unit. Incumbent will be responsible for records review, identifying Social Security beneficiaries and Ticket holders, and registering participants under the Ticket to Work Program. In addition, incumbent will assist with other related programs such as the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance and Partnership Plus.
Minimum Requirements:
Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience. College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience. Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of required work experience. A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient typing and numeric key entry skills
Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to actively communicate effectively and listen to others

EXAMPLES OF WORK

The employee in this position provides administrative support for the Area Director

Reviews, screens, and distribute incoming correspondence for the Area Director and staff

Provides administrative and secretarial support services to the unit supervisor and counselors

Prepares and signs routine correspondence

Answers phones and files documents

Responsible for making travel arrangements

Maintains Area travel records copy file

Provides technical assistance to supervisor and associates to facilitate unit work

Assists with the development of meeting arrangements

Background Screening Requirement:
It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
