Comcast Business Public Sector IT is a new virtual startup organization within Comcast’s Technology and Product Division and largely located on the east coast (greater Philadelphia and the DC area). We are responsible for the IT applications and infrastructure supporting the Comcast Business Public Sector LOB serving federal and state agencies.

In this role, you will have exposure to the entire IT ecosystem supporting our new Comcast Business Public Sector Line of Business (LOB) and ensuring this ecosystem is secure, reliable, resilient, and supports efficient business processes with purpose-built customer centric applications. You will be a part of the IT team that will set the IT vision and roadmap for the greenfield eco-system and resolve how we work to effectively architect, develop, deploy and support the Public Sector IT applications and Infrastructure.

Job Description:
The DBA is responsible for coordinating the operation of several complex database files. They also perform aspects of Database Administration including, hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques and development of policies, standards and procedures. The DBA participates in the implementation and support of development systems, QA systems and production systems at data centers, including all network and systems-related infrastructure components. They have in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in their own subject area. One usually determines one's own work priorities and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
**Must be a US citizen and pass the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) security process.**

You will Gain Experience in:
Become an authority in the end-to-end process of how we sell Telco Services to the government with secure IT platforms

Understand and maintain the DBs and Data models that support an Enterprise data Model for our Federal IT ecosystem

Learn new DB technologies as we grow the business and add more systems and capabilities

Required Technical Skills:
Previous Experience with Government Programs a plus, especially GSA/EIS.

Linux Experience 3-4 years, and Windows Server 3-4 years.

MySQL and MongoDB Experience.

Core Responsibilities:
Communicates and understands the impact of database changes to affected parties and makes recommendations, as appropriate. Maintains hardware platforms to perform at optimum response, capacity planning and implementation of new databases due to conversions.

Consults with Project Managers to design appropriate solutions. Assists the development teams with application schema designs and applies best practices.

Commissions and installs new applications.

Assists with leading a task force to develop and implement a database that addresses business needs. Advises on new database technologies, trends and features.

Develops, revises and implements policies, standards, procedures and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment.

Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery plans.

Designs/tunes, maintains and supports database systems for highly available, high-volume internet applications.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
