The Reality Labs (RL) Research and XR teams are responsible for inventing and incubating foundational technologies and cutting-edge capabilities for our AR/VR platforms and products across machine learning and perception, 3D avatars, next-gen spatial audio, AI, computer vision and more. This role will help support the Reality Labs Communications team, working on projects like assistant technology, and building communications strategies that drive awareness and adoption of XR tech across AR/VR products. The successful candidate will work with other members of the Reality Labs communications team, and cross-functional partners, to highlight the foundational research being conducted inside of RL research labs and being incubated by the XR team in support of metaverse development. The ideal candidate knows how to search for a good story, thrives when fact-finding in large, distributed organizations and is adept at synthesizing information, especially when distilling technical concepts to craft compelling stories that lay audiences can understand. They're good with building media relationships and can quickly assess risk and respond accordingly. They'll be comfortable with ambiguity, and fluidity and will enjoy diving into the tech. A self-starter is a must for this role.Communications Manager, Reality Labs Research & XR Responsibilities* Work with XR and RL Research Communications leads to support communications goals across XR and RL Research initiatives* Manage the assistant technology communications plan, building communication strategies that drive awareness and adoption of assistant technology across AR/VR products* Work directly with product, research and marketing to drive proactive story moments* Identify risk areas and develop proactive and reactive response plans, keeping key stakeholders appraised on progress and status* Plan and manage press events, prep spokespeople, and create briefing materials, in support of external announcements* Collaborate across multiple functions including research, engineering, product, marketing, policy, legal and communications counterparts on communication plans* Write and edit blog posts, pitches, and other creative materials* Review research papers and presentations from the team, identifying opportunities to surface research and engineering work for pressMinimum Qualifications* Experience with media relations, including with technical publications* Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field* 8+ years of work experience in external communications* Experience drafting narratives, ideally around scientific topics* Proven writing skills* Experience working with executives* Project management skills and experience working cross-functionally* Experience working in a fast paced environmentPreferred Qualifications* Experience working on AR/VR technologies and/or emerging tech categories* Experience in hardware communications and software products/services* Experience working with researchersLocationsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
